Cover Fence Installation: The Boca Raton Owner’s Guide

Cover fence installation in Boca Raton typically runs $3,500-$9,000 for a complete vinyl system, with most residential jobs in the $4,500-$6,500 range depending on linear footage and soil conditions. We stock Cover-compatible posts, rails, and pickets on our trucks, and most replacements can be scheduled within 48 hours. Homeowners usually discover a problem when a section leans after a summer storm, gates sag and won’t latch, or they notice cracked pickets and chalking from the intense south Florida UV exposure.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover manufactures several vinyl fence series, and the parts are not interchangeable between them. The most common in Boca Raton are the Cover Privacy series (6-foot tongue-and-groove pickets with 5-inch post spacing), the Cover Picket series (4-foot spaced picket with 2.5-inch rail profile), and the Cover Ranch Rail (three-rail agricultural style with 8-foot post centers). The model number is embossed on the inside face of the bottom rail, usually preceded by “CV-” and a four-digit code. If that label is sun-faded, measure the wall thickness of the post: Privacy series uses .150-inch wall PVC, while Picket series drops to .120-inch. This matters because a thinner post in a Privacy application will fail at the concrete footing within two years.

We source OEM Cover parts through the manufacturer’s southeast distributor in Fort Lauderdale, with typical lead times of 3-5 business days for specialty colors like Almond or Clay. For standard White and Tan, we also stock quality aftermarket equivalents from Bufftech and CertainTeed that match Cover’s dimensional specs and carry comparable UV inhibitors. The aftermarket rails fit Cover posts with minimal adjustment, though the rail locks differ slightly and we note this on the written quote so there’s no surprise during installation.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing
  • Posts lean or wobble at the base. In Boca Raton’s sandy, well-drained soil, posts need 30-inch minimum embedment in concrete; shallow footings or missing gravel drainage let the post rock and enlarge the hole. We see this most often in west Boca developments where the original builder used 24-inch embedment to save on concrete.
  • Gate sags and the latch won’t engage. Cover gates use a steel-reinforced top rail that corrodes from the inside out in salt air. By the time the vinyl shell shows cracking, the internal steel has lost 40% of its section. A new gate frame is the fix, not a latch adjustment.
  • Pickets crack vertically near the bottom rail. This is thermal stress from the 40-degree daily temperature swing common in Boca Raton spring and fall. Cover’s older formulations (pre-2015) lacked sufficient impact modifiers, and the pickets become brittle after 7-10 years of UV exposure.
  • Chalking or color shift to a lighter, dusty appearance. The titanium dioxide UV barrier has depleted. This is cosmetic until the surface layer micro-cracks, at which point water penetrates and freeze-thaw (yes, even in Florida’s brief cold snaps) accelerates deterioration.
  • Rails pull out of posts during wind events. Cover’s snap-lock rail system depends on a flexible PVC tab that fatigues over time. Once the tab cracks, the rail is free-floating and will walk out under repeated gust loading.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range
Single post replacement (concrete, rebar, Cover post) $350-$650
8-foot section replacement (2 posts, 2 rails, 8-10 pickets) $1,200-$2,100
Gate replacement (steel-frame, Cover shell, hardware) $850-$1,600
Complete 150-linear-foot Cover privacy fence $4,500-$6,500
Complete 200-linear-foot Cover privacy fence $5,800-$9,000

The range depends on three factors: soil conditions (rock or loose sand adds labor), access (narrow side yards in Old Floresta or Boca Square require hand-digging), and whether we hit sprinkler lines or underground utilities. Our quote includes the Cover or equivalent materials, concrete with rebar, permit pull if required by your HOA or the City of Boca Raton, and haul-away of the old fence. Under Clause 1 of The Haven Standard, the price is written before anyone starts. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers workmanship; manufacturer defects are handled through the OEM warranty.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s no high-tension danger in vinyl fence work, but there are ways DIY goes wrong that cost more than the original job. Digging without locating utilities is the big one; Florida law requires 811 notification, and Boca Raton’s older neighborhoods have shallow irrigation and low-voltage lighting that won’t show on standard utility maps. Post alignment is another: a post 1 inch out of plumb at ground level becomes 3 inches at six feet, and the gate won’t close.

What you can safely check: confirm the model number on the rail, measure the lean with a level, and photograph the damage for our review. What we handle: concrete mixing and curing in south Florida’s rapid-dry conditions, proper drainage at the footing to prevent the rot that killed the last post, and the documented photo record you receive at completion.
