Tamko Driveway & Pavers: The Boca Raton Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Tamko-compatible driveway and paver components in Boca Raton, with most replacement and repair work quoted in the $250-$700 range for sealing and minor repairs, and full paver driveway installations running $7,000-$18,000 depending on substrate condition and pattern complexity. Most Tamko paver part failures show up as joint sand washout, edge restraint lift, or surface spalling after our heavy summer rains and the salt air near the Intracoastal. If you’re seeing settling near the garage apron or pooling after storms, the base layer or edge system has likely failed.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To
Tamko’s paver and hardscape line has shifted over the past decade, so identification matters before we quote. The Heritage Series pavers (discontinued around 2016) used a 60mm thickness with beveled edges and a proprietary color-through mix that doesn’t match current Tamko stock. Current production runs under the BuildPro and Envision lines, both 80mm units with a pressed face and slightly different interlock geometry. Check the pallet tag or a loose corner paver for the stamped “TAMKO” logo and a four-digit date code; pre-2016 product will show a three-digit plant code instead.
We source OEM Tamko replacement units when the color batch is still available, which is increasingly rare for Heritage colors like “Boca Blend” and “Sandstone Coral.” For mismatched lots, we spec equivalent-grade product from Belgard or Techo-Bloc, both brands we carry, and document the substitution in writing before any work starts. The sub-base and bedding layer specs haven’t changed, so compatibility is structural even when the surface color shifts. We measure twice, document everything, then build.
Signs Your Tamko Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

- Joint sand washout and weed growth. The polymeric sand bed degrades after 3-5 years in Boca Raton’s UV exposure, especially on south-facing drives. Once the binder breaks down, rainwater carries sand into the substrate and leaves gaps that collect organic debris.
- Edge restraint lift or separation. The plastic or concrete edging that locks the field pavers in place pops upward when the bedding sand erodes or when tree roots from laurel oaks or ficus hedges push underneath. Lifted edges let the pattern unravel from the outside in.
- Surface spalling or color fading. Tamko’s color-through mix resists surface wear, but the cement paste layer still faces salt air and chlorine drift from pool equipment. Spalling shows as thin flakes lifting from the wear surface, usually first near downspout discharge points.
- Settlement or rocking under tire load. A paver that shifts when you step on it has lost its bedding sand support. In Boca Raton, this often traces to inadequate base compaction during original install or washout from a broken sprinkler line beneath the drive.
- Standing water 30 minutes after rain. Proper pitch should shed water to the street or a drain. Persistent pooling means the base has settled or the original grade was insufficient for our flat terrain and high water table near the Everglades edge.

|---|---|---|
| Driveway sealing (reapply polymeric sand + seal coat) | $250-$700 | Pressure wash, joint sand replacement, two-coat acrylic sealer |
| Edge restraint repair (per linear foot) | $12-$28 | Remove, recompact base, install new restraint, backfill |
| Sub-base repair (localized, per sq ft) | $18-$35 | Excavate, recompact ABC stone, relay existing pavers |

| Concrete driveway replacement | $4,500-$12,000 | Remove, form, pour 4″-5″ slab with control joints, broom finish |
What drives the range: access for equipment, whether we can reuse existing pavers, and how far the base has degraded. We deliver a written price before any work starts, every time, with line-item breakdowns. Under the 365-Day Done Right Promise, if the joint sand fails or an edge lifts within a year, we make it right at no charge. Every visit includes a documented photo record of before, during, and after.
DIY or Call Us?

There’s safe checking, and then there’s work that needs the right base compaction and grade verification. An owner can sweep fresh polymeric sand into open joints and mist it to set, that’s straightforward. But re-leveling a settled area requires removing pavers, adding and compacting ABC stone in lifts, and verifying pitch with a laser level, not a string line. In Boca Raton’s sandy soils, inadequate compaction means the repair fails in one rainy season.
We don’t recommend DIY edge restraint installation. The restraint needs to sit at the correct height relative to the finish grade, anchored with 10″ spikes into compacted base, not the topsoil layer. Get it wrong and the field pattern loosens within months. Call (754) 254-8065 and we’ll assess what’s actually failed, quote it in writing, and schedule the work.
FAQs
Properly installed Tamko pavers last 25-30 years in South Florida, but the surface sealer and joint sand need renewal every 3-5 years. The salt air and intense UV accelerate binder breakdown in the sand and the acrylic sealer layer, not the concrete body itself. Call (754) 254-8065 for an exact quote on resealing - estimates are free.
Localized failure, edge restraint lift, or joint sand loss can be repaired sectionally at roughly 15-25% of replacement cost. Full replacement becomes necessary when the base has washed out across more than 30% of the area, or when the original install lacked adequate compaction. We photograph the base condition and show you before quoting. Call (754) 254-8065 for a free assessment.
Joint sand and sealing work finishes in one day; edge restraint repairs run 1-2 days depending on linear footage. Full driveway replacement takes 3-5 days in Boca Raton, including permit pull, base compaction in lifts with a plate compactor, and the 24-hour cure before vehicular traffic. We sign off each phase before the next begins. Call (754) 254-8065 to schedule your free estimate.
We stock polymeric sand, edge restraint systems, and sealers compatible with Tamko installations on every truck, and we maintain relationships with distributors for current-production Tamko units and equivalent-grade Belgard and Techo-Bloc product. For discontinued Heritage Series colors, we source closest-match equivalents and document the substitution in your written quote. Call (754) 254-8065 to confirm availability for your specific color and pattern.
