ViewLux Driveway & Pavers: The Boca Raton Owner’s Guide

We stock and install ViewLux-compatible driveway and paver components in Boca Raton, with typical installed pricing from $7,000 for paver driveway work and $3,500-$11,000 for paver patio installations depending on substrate condition and pattern complexity. Most ViewLux part replacements can be sourced within 24-48 hours through our network of fifty-plus vetted material brands, and we carry common edge restraints, drainage channel sections, and paver locking sand on our trucks. Homeowners usually discover a ViewLux system failure when they notice pooling after rain that didn’t pool before, individual pavers shifting underfoot, or sand washing out from joints along the driveway’s low side - all signs that a component underneath or between the pavers has given way.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux driveway and paver systems fall into three series lines: the residential ViewLux Classic (discontinued 2019), the ViewLux Pro series with interlocking edge restraint system, and the ViewLux Permeable line designed for Florida’s heavy rain events. The Classic series used a 2.36-inch paver thickness and proprietary plastic edge restraint with a 1.5-inch profile height; the Pro series moved to 2.75-inch pavers and a snap-together aluminum restraint. To identify your series, check the stamped code on the paver’s edge - Classics carry a “VL-C” mark, Pro series “VL-P” followed by a two-digit year code.

The OEM-versus-aftermarket question for ViewLux is straightforward: edge restraints and drainage channels are still available OEM through select distributors, but the Classic series locking sand (ViewLux branded as “PolyBond”) is discontinued. We use Techniseal RG+ polymeric sand as the equivalent - same gradation, same activation process, better UV stability in Boca Raton’s sun. For Pro series edge restraints, we stock both OEM ViewLux and a compatible Unilock aluminum profile; the Unilock piece runs 15-20% less and carries the same load rating. We document which option we quote and why, so you have the spec sheet before we order.

Signs Your ViewLux Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your ViewLux Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Pavers rock or sink when stepped on. This usually means the bedding sand layer has washed out or compacted unevenly, often because the geotextile fabric beneath has torn and allowed soil migration. In Boca Raton’s sandy soils near the Intracoastal, we’ve seen this accelerate after one heavy season if the original fabric was skimped.
  • Standing water 30 minutes after rain stops. The permeable base or drainage channel is clogged with sediment, or the channel outlet has shifted below grade. ViewLux Permeable systems are especially sensitive here - the 3/8-inch clear stone base needs periodic flushing, which most homeowners aren’t told at install.
  • Sand continuously washes from joints, leaving gaps. The polymeric sand has degraded from UV exposure or was never properly activated with water during original installation. Boca Raton’s intense sun breaks down inferior polymeric binders in 18-24 months; quality sand should last 5-7 years.
  • Edge pavers tipping outward or separating from the field. The edge restraint has cracked (plastic) or corroded (early aluminum) or the spikes holding it have pulled from saturated soil. We see this most often on north-facing driveways where irrigation overspray keeps the edge zone wet.
  • White haze or efflorescence spreading across paver faces. This is calcium carbonate migration from the bedding sand or base material, accelerated by Florida’s humidity and frequent wet-dry cycles. It’s not structural failure, but it signals moisture is moving through the system in ways the original design didn’t account for.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For ViewLux driveway and paver component work in Boca Raton, our installed pricing breaks down as follows:

  • Paver driveway installation or full replacement: $7,000-$18,000
  • Concrete driveway installation: $4,500-$12,000
  • Driveway sealing (maintenance, not repair): $250-$700
  • Paver patio installation: $3,500-$11,000
  • Targeted edge restraint or drainage channel repair: typically $800-$2,400 depending on linear footage and whether we must regrade the sub-base
  • Polymeric sand refresh (clean, re-sand, activate): $1.20-$1.80 per square foot

What drives the range: substrate condition (whether we can reuse the compacted base or must excavate and re-lay), paver availability (discontinued ViewLux Classic colors require sourcing from remnant inventory or matching to a current line), and access (narrow Boca Raton lots with pool equipment or mature landscaping limit machine access). Every quote is a flat written price with line-item scope - material brand, square footage, base depth, and warranty term - before any work starts. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that written price is the price. No change proceeds without a signed change order, which is why our projects finish within a few percent of the number we agreed to.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground for ViewLux paver issues, and then there’s the point where DIY costs more than it saves. An owner can safely inspect: lift one paver at the failure zone to check sand depth (should be 1-inch bedding layer), run a level across a 4-foot span to check for dips, and clear visible debris from drainage channel grates. What we don’t recommend: attempting to re-level pavers without re-compacting the base (they’ll settle again in months), using play sand or mason sand instead of specified bedding sand (wrong gradation, won’t lock), or pressure-washing polymeric sand joints before applying new sand (the old residue prevents proper bonding).

The bigger risk is structural: if the failure involves undermined base material or a collapsed drainage channel, patching the surface hides a problem that will spread. We’ve been called to Boca Raton homes where a 6-square-foot soft spot became a 400-square-foot regrade because the owner kept relaying pavers over a sinking base. Measure twice, document everything, then build - that’s how we approach it, and it’s the standard we quote to. Call (754) 254-8065 and we’ll photograph the failure zone, explain what we’re seeing, and give you a written price for the fix.
